Dementia Harborough

DEMENTIA HARBOROUGH supports those with recently diagnosed dementia, their carers and families.

We started in March 2011 as Dementia café Market Harborough which provided support for those newly diagnosed with dementia and their families, and a place to get together, and jointly support each other.

Now we run a range of activities for people affected by dementia, including a Dementia café and a Singing for Memories Group.  We are also involved with local NHS and Social Services bodies, other local charity groups, and local politicans to ensure that they understand the practical issues being faced by people with dementia and their carers.

Dementia Harborough's activities include:-

Dementia café - a safe and relaxing place where people with dementia, their family members and carers can get specialist advice from visiting speakers and fieldworkers attending from support agencies. It is also an opportunity to meet others in the same situation and share experiences. All while enjoying coffee, cake and conversation! Find out more about Dementia café and our support for other local groups.

Singing for Memories Group - Music and singing has a special place in everyone’s heart and memories. This is especially so for those with memory loss – music and songs can help with communication and trigger some of those long lost special memories. So come and join us for an enjoyable afternoon of singing and playing musical instruments or if you fancy it you can dance to the music! Find out more about Singing for Memories
