ABOUT US

We formed in March 2011 to provide support for those newly diagnosed with dementia and their families, and to provide a place where they can have fun together, and jointly support each other.

In 2016 we became a fully registered Charity and now we run a range of activities for people affected by dementia, including the Dementia Café, a Singing for Memories Group and trips out to places of interest.

We are also involved with other local charity groups and agencies to help improve the services available to everyone living with the effects of dementia.

Together with The Well, Kibworth we also run a Dementia Cafe in Kibworth Beauchamp.

Dementia Harborough is run entirely by unpaid volunteers.

Who do we support?

We support anyone who is living with dementia, or is beginning to show symptoms of dementia.

Common early symptoms of dementia

Different types of dementia can affect people differently, and everyone will experience symptoms in their own way.

However, there are some common early symptoms that may appear some time before a diagnosis of dementia. These include:

  • memory loss

  • difficulty concentrating

  • finding it hard to carry out familiar daily tasks, such as getting confused over the correct change when shopping

  • struggling to follow a conversation or find the right word

  • being confused about time and place

  • mood changes

If you have any concerns about dementia, either for yourself or someone you know, please contact your GP to arrange an appointment.

The earlier you seek help, the quicker information, advice and support become available
